Carrier Ethernet Equipment Design
Held January 30, 2008 in San Jose

On January 30th, The Linley Group held the first seminar in the Linley Tech 2008 series. This one-day event will focused on network processors, packet processors, transport processors, and control-plane processors for applications such as Ethernet aggregation, Ethernet access, and Ethernet-over-OTN.

The day featured an outstanding lineup of technical presenters, including:
>
Kyle Aubrey, Global IP Services FAE Team Leader, Freescale, will present "Building Resilient Carrier-Ethernet Equipment with Freescale’s Multi-Core Processors"
> Subhash Roy, CTO, AMCC, will present "Enabling Cost-Effective Carrier Ethernet for the Metro WDM Transport Network"
> Patrick Bisson, VP Technology Applications, EZchip Technologies, will present "Challenges in 100Gbps Processing"
>
Liviu Pinchas, Director of Systems Architecture, Wintegra, will present "Mobile Backhaul over Metro Ethernet"
>
Derek “Mac” McAuley, CTO, Netronome Systems, will present "Network Flow Processing in Carrier Ethernet"
>
Anders Wirkestrand, Director of Marketing, Xelerated, will present "Future Carrier-Ethernet Requirements and the Dataflow Architecture"
>
Mike Lardner, VP of Engineering, Lightstorm Networks, will present "The Follies of Enterprise Silicon in Carrier-Class Networks"
>
Lars A. Pedersen, CTO, TPACK, will present "Building Flexibility into Carrier-Ethernet Equipment"

The seminar opened with a presentation from The Linley Group highlighting Carrier Ethernet design trends and providing context for later presentations.

The seminar was intended for system designers, network-equipment vendors, OEMs, carriers/service providers, press, and the financial community. Leading chip vendors discussed Carrier Ethernet applications and how their products can be used in new designs.

Event sponsors: Freescale, AMCC, EZchip, Wintegra, Netronome, Xelerated, Lightstorm Networks, TPACK, and the Ethernet Alliance.
